Pumpkin Soup in Year 2

Year 2 enjoyed reading the delightful story Pumpkin Soup by Helen Cooper, which inspired them to make their very own pumpkin soup.

The children carefully followed a set of instructions, listening closely for imperative verbs such as wash, cut, scoop, boil, mix and eat. They worked brilliantly together, following each step in the correct order to create a delicious soup.

Afterwards, the children thoroughly enjoyed tasting their homemade pumpkin soup before developing their writing skills by recording the instructions they had followed. It was a fantastic way to combine literacy, speaking and listening, and practical learning in a fun and memorable activity.
