This week in Nursery, we continued our exciting learning all about Chinese New Year  🎊. Our focus story was Goldilocks and the Three Pandas 📖🐼, which the children really enjoyed. This week in nursery, we continued our learning about birds 🐦. The children had lots of fun making bird models 🎨 and, in maths, counting the correct number of worms 🪱 to feed the birds. We also created our own bird feeders 🪹, which are now hanging in our outdoor area 🌳. In phonics, our older children learned the sound ‘t’  🔤, and our focus story for the week was The Go Away Bird  📖. This week in Nursery, we have been very excited as we prepared for Chinese New Year ! 🎉 We learned all about traditional celebrations and explored the different ways people come together to get ready for the festivities. In Maths , we played a fun game rolling the dice 🎲 and dishing out the correct number of noodles 🍜. We even practised using chopsticks , helping to develop our fine motor skills 🥢✋. This week, we had the pleasure of welcoming our lovely nursery families into school for a pre-phonics workshop 🏫💛. Today, our nursery children received a very special delivery! While practicing our super listening and smart sitting, we heard the sound of jingle bells outside our classroom door. This week, the children in Nursery and Reception came together to celebrate the Advent Celebration of the Word. We talked about the many ways we prepare for Jesus’ birthday, including putting up our Christmas decorations and opening our Advent calendars. The children helped to dress the focus table, joined in singing hymns, and spent time in prayer as we joyfully prepared for this special season.

This week, our children have been busy getting into the Christmas spirit! We celebrated Christmas Jumper Day, tucked into our delicious Christmas dinners, and wowed everyone with our fantastic nativity performance. Well done, boys and girls!

This week in Nursery, we have loved diving into the world of The Gruffalo ! The children have had great fun retelling the story with their friends and using rich vocabulary to describe all the characters. In the Gruffalo Café, we practised our number-recognition skills as we took orders and served our “customers.” We also enjoyed getting creative with a range of Gruffalo-inspired crafts. It’s been a wonderful week of imagination, learning, and fun!

This week in Nursery we have been busy learning about bridges! Our focus story has been ‘The Three Billy Goats Gruff’. We have had lots of fun learning new vocabulary from our story. We used our investigating and building skills to use a range of materials and create our own bridges. We got creative with some goat crafts and use our communication skills to retell the story with our friends!

This week in Nursery , we have been busy learning about where we live  and Remembrance Day . Our focus story was Martha Maps It Out , which helped us talk about our homes and the people who live in them. We also explored our local area and learned more about the places around us. To mark Remembrance Day, we created some beautiful poppy artwork and used this activity to practice our fine motor skills in maths — giving each poppy the correct number of petals, from 1 to 5.
