Welcome to our School
Headteacher:
Miss C McKeever M.A.
Our mission is
to help one another to live out the gospel values. These values, the love of God
and our neighbour, should be found in every aspect
of the school's life. We aim
to achieve this through a partnership between the school, the home and the parishes.
"The Lord calls us to be human agents who plant the seed of his word
and create an environment in which it can grow" (Cor. 3:5-9)
Our
history
Our
School opened in January 1959. It replaced the St. John's Wood Parish School in
Fisherton Street, which was bombed during the war.
Since then we have had just four Headteachers: Terry Casey (1959 - 1962);
Tom Moran (1962 - 1979; Danny McDonald (1979 - 2008) and
Miss C. McKeever M.A. (Since 2008). During this time, the school has
earned a reputation for high expectations and academic excellence.
We nurture a
caring, Christian ethos, and we strive to develop the full potential of all
pupils, regardless of
ability or race.
Our aims for all
pupils.
The
spiritual development of our pupils as caring members of the Family of Christ is
central to our Mission Statement. Within this context, we also aim to promote:
- promote their full academic,
personal and social development
- encourage independence in
work and judgement
- help pupils make decisions
with an accepted moral code
- recognise four aspects of
achievement:
1. the ability to assimilate facts accurately and use them in
written for
2. the ability to identify and solve problems independently
3. the ability to work well with others, showing social skills of
co-operation and leadership
4. motivation and the ability to build on failure and learn from
mistakes.
